A VISIT TO THE COUNTRYSIDE I think the countryside is the best place to spend summer holidays. When school was over, I went to my grandparents. They live in the village of Pidberezh. My family and I went to the village by car. It took us 40 minutes to get there. The village is not big but very beautiful. The houses in the village are small and big but you can see beautiful nature. My Granny lives in a nice four-room house. Behind the house there is a large vegetable garden where they grow potatoes, cabbages, onions, carrots, cucumbers and other vegetables. My father and I like to work in the vegetable garden: we watered the vegetables and weeded them. My Granny has a greenhouse and a small garden near the house too. In the greenhouse they grow red and green peppers, dill and radishes. You can see a lot of apples, pears and plums in the garden`s fruit trees. They were not ripe yet but I hope in autumn there will be a good harvest of fruit in the garden. They have domestic animals: a cow, a calf, that live in the barn and many hens. My mother and I like to help Granny about the house and with the animals: we fed the hens and sometimes took a cow to the meadow. MY SUMMER VACATIONS I spent my summer vacations in the country because I live there. My summer vacations are always funny. When school was over and summer vacations began I made some plan for my vacations. Here is my plan:
1.To go to the camp.
2.To read books recommended by the teachers.
3.To take my brother for a walk every day.
4.To go to the river.
So, first I went camping. There I made friends, played games and went hiking. On fine sunny days my family and I went to the river. There we swam, bathed, lay in the sun and played games at the beach. On weekends we went fishing or went to the forest to pick berries or mushrooms. When the weather was rainy I read books recommended by the teachers, listened to music or watched TV. Every day my brother and I went for a walk or played games. I liked my summer vacations very much. And what about you?
My Room. My house has all modern conveniences: running cold and hot water, electricity, gas, central heating and a telephone. When you come to visit us you enter a cosy hall. There is a hall-stand for hats, coats, and umbrellas in the corner and a large mirror on the wall in the hall. And now let`s have a look at the living room. By the way, it is the largest room in the house. The walls of our living-room are painted white. There are two large windows. There is a large rug on the floor. On the right side of the room there is a cupboard. A color TV-set, a stereo system with two speakers and a video cassette recorder are on the shelves of the wall unit. On the left side of the room there is a sofa, a coffee table, a fireplace and armchairs. The members of my family like to spend their free time in the living-room.
My House My name is Olia Zaida. I live in the village of Zhulyn not far the town of Stryi. My house is really lovely. It is a two-storeyed detached house. It has seven rooms, a toilet, two bathrooms, a hall, a corridor and two closets. My kitchen and pantry are separated from the house. There are four rooms, a bathroom, a corridor and a hall on the ground floor there are three bedrooms, a toilet, and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms is my room. My room is large, very light and cosy. My house has an basement too. But I`d like to describe what is by the house. In front of the house you can see flower-beds with beautiful flowers. In front of the house there is a big orchard with many fruit trees. On the left of the house there is a garage and a kitchen with a pantry. My house is not very large but it`s comfortable and well-planned.
After school My lessons are over at 2.10 o`clock and I can go home. I often walk home with my friends. It takes me 15 minutes to get there.
When I come home I take off my school uniform, put on my T-shirt and track suit and go to the bathroom to wash my hands.
Then I have dinner. As a rule I have a plate of soup, a sandwich and tea for dinner.
After dinner I may have a little rest. When the weather is bad I stay at home and watch TV.
But when the weather is fine I go out into the yard to play badminton.
At 4.40 o`clock I come home and do the homework. It takes me two hours to do it. After that I play with my brother.
I am fond of music. On Mondays and Wednesday s I go to music school and learn to play the cello.
In the evening after supper I play the cello for some time and then get my things ready for school.
At 10 o`clock I take a shower, brush my teeth, say goodnight to my parents and go sleep.
At school My school day always stars at half past eight. I go to school five days a week, because I don`t have lessons on Saturday. I have six lessons a day. After the third and the fourth lessons I go to the canteen to lunch there. At the Gymnasium I learn a lot of subjects: Ukrainian, math, English, PE, Computing, Music, Ukrainian and World Literature, History, Manual Work. At the Gymnasium German, French, Biology, Chemistry are taught too. I have Ukrainian four times a week. At these lessons I do exercises, learn grammar rules, and write dictations. I like the lessons because they are interesting. History lessons are interesting too. At these lessons I learn the history of the country. I work hard at Math’s, I do sums and problems. I like PE, because I am fond of playing different games and running. But my favorite subject is Music. I like the Music lessons best of all. At the lessons pupils sing songs and write dictations. My lessons are over at 14.10 and I am happy to go home. In the Morning Let me introduce myself. My name is Olia Zaida. I am ten. I am a pupil. I`d like to tell you about my typical day. My daily routine is very busy. I usually wake up at 7.20. To tell the truth, I am an early riser. First of all I go to the bathroom and wash my face and hands. As a rule I begin my day with a prayer. After that I get dressed. I put on tights, a blouse and my school uniform. I usually have breakfast at 7.40 a.m. I have a cup of tea, cereal and cookies for breakfast.
